Two things, Christian reader, particularly excite the will of man to good. A principle of
justice is one, the other the profit we may derive therefrom. All wise men, therefore, agree
that justice and profit are the two most powerful inducements to move our wills to any
undertaking. Now, though men seek profit more frequently than justice, yet justice is in
itself more powerful; for, as Aristotle teaches, no worldly advantage can equal the excellence
of virtue, nor is any loss so great that a wise man should not suffer it rather than yield to
vice. The design of this book being to win men to virtue, we shall begin by showing our
obligation to practice virtue because of the duty we owe to God. God being essentially
goodness and beauty, there is nothing more pleasing to Him than virtue, nothing He more
earnestly requires. Let us first seriously consider upon what grounds God demands this
tribute from us.

THE SINNER'S GUIDE edition by Venerable Louis of Granada Religion Spirituality eBooks

This is a book that does what few books nowadays do: it exhorts the reader. The author doesn't just give suggestions about how to avoid sinning, he first makes you WANT to avoid sinning! It is well organized, beginning with reasons to want to be virtuous. God is the first reason, his goodness and beauty and all that we owe him. No one section is overly long, so it is not hard or boring to read, despite obviously being from another age. Great bedtime reading for Catholics who are serious about their relationship with God.

THE SINNER'S GUIDE edition by Venerable Louis of Granada Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

This is a legendary spiritual book written by a man on his way to sainthood - Fray Luis Granada. Its contents are readily understandable for anyone interested in advancing their personal spiritual life. I highly recommend it. wrgop@earthlink.net
This was St. Teresa of Avila's favorite book. When you read it you will understand why. It is one of the books every Catholic home should have, and it should be read by every occupant, from teenagers to adults.
After reading it, I think I will be a saint too. It explains virtually everything that a christian should know about his relationship with God and how to nurture this relationship and keep it alive and growing. What a writer and a saint too!! I recommend this book to those who are not so serious about their faith but most specially to those who are serious in growing and strengthening their faith.
This is a life changer; I highly recommend this to anyone as a guide to better know one's self. Provides insightful perspectives and useful recommendations for making spiritual progress. Thomas Kempis' Imitation of Christ every morning, and Sinner's Guide every evening - you can't go wrong!
This book was highly recommended by no less than Saint Teresa of Avila. Recommendation enough for me. And she indeed became a very great Saint. Reading the book is the easy part. Putting it into practice is the challenge of each new day loving God every moment the way He wants to be loved.
This is a book that should be distributed to every person in the world because if it were read and prayed on, the world would change.

The clarity of thought and deep Truths, the methodical teaching, the necessity that we live a life of conversion to the Gospel message instead of thinking by walking the wide path we will ever see God.....well, I can see why St. Teresa of Avila said the book had converted millions.

Its a book one could read their whole life and continue to draw truth and lessons from it. If I could only keep one book, other than Holy Scripture, I think I would choose this one. Its an amazing call to heartfelt conversion lest we perish.
Having just completed "The Sinner's Guide" after a very slow read (a chapter or two per day), I can see why St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Francis de Sales, and so many others, leaned on this book. I especially loved his discussions on the virtues near the end. It was the icing on the cake, and a shot in the arm. If you want to learn Catholic spirituality, read this book slowly and meditate as you go. Be sure to pray to Ven. Louis and the saints for help with understanding it all.
